Vlad was the youngest of three brothers. His brother Fletcher was the middle son and Kalin was the eldest. Their parents were two famous and respected rangers, the Human Eadric and the Elf-maid Leofrun. They were raised in a simple cabin along a river out in the wilds. Eadric and Leofrun watched over the large valley they raised their sons in. They also taught their sons the ways of the ranger.
They maintained close relationships with the peaceful Ondonti Orc tribe that lived in Echo Village and the Dryad, Halentariel. Halentariel had a young Elf girl for a ward named Firvain Diamond-hawk. Vlad and his brothers grew up very close to Firvain and a young Orc named Tink.
The day Echo Village came under attack from the East Mire Cartel, the family of rangers raced to help. Eadric and Leofrun stayed to fight but sent their sons to try to make it to Sulin with word of what has happened in Echo Village. Unfortunately, the brothers are ridden down by East Mire Cartel goons and shot to ribbons by crossbow bolts. Vlad makes it the furthest, drowning face down in the river he was raised next to his whole life.
